A local induction is essential to ensuring that junior doctors feel welcomed, valued and effectively integrated into their new Trust. It will help you to understand how you contribute to the work of the Trust and its objectives, and is good employment practice. The induction matrix shows what will be covered in each part of induction.
Induction for junior doctors
The next Trust Induction is on the morning of Wednesday 1st April 2020 at Moorgreen Hospital. All trainees new or returning to Southern Health are required to attend.
If you think you should be attending and have not been invited or are unsure whether you should attend, please contact the Postgraduate Centre.
The programme includes:
Local and departmental/post inductions as arranged by locality tutors and clinical/educational supervisors and RiO training for those who have had no previous training / refresher training as required - various locations. (Requirement to attend and details of time as advised individually)

Junior Doctors will be provided with an induction to both the department and the post, which should include information about the department and post, key people in each, essential on-call information, responsibilities of the post and agreed learning objectives. Trainees will be shown local procedures including completion of forms, handover and absence procedures.
All trainees are required to complete a Record of Local Induction for Non Permanent Staff form, which much be signed by their clinical supervisor. Once completed they need to scan the form and email it to Postgraduate.Centre@SouthernHealth.nhs.uk
The next Psychiatry Core Skills will take place on Thursday 13th February & Thursday 20th February at Thornhill Education Room, Tom Rudd Unit, Moorgreen. This will be for Foundation trainees starting psychiatry placements.
All Foundation trainees new to Psychiatry placements within Wessex (except DHUFT) will be required to attend. If you do not receive an invitation and think you should attend - or for any queries about the course -please contact us.
